Today is National Change A Pet's Life Day. This special day is dedicated to encouraging people to adopt pets from shelters and raise awareness about animals in need.
Even if you can't adopt a pet right now, there are certainly other ways to help. One little boy is leading the way....
Most four-year-old boys choose to spend their allowance money on Hot Wheels, candy, or the latest hottest toy. But not Jaxton Betschart, a four year old from Charleston, South Carolina. He had a plan for his saved allowance - he wanted to help homeless dogs.
The family’s military housing restrictions prevented them from adopting any more dogs themselves, so Jaxton donated his allowance to sponsor two dogs at his local animal shelter. By paying for the dogs’ adoption fees, Jaxton made sure the pups were quickly adopted by qualified families.
