Common Mistakes Pet Parents Make (without knowing)
It seems logical to think back on it now, but I always thought that feeding my dog a decent mid-grade dry kibble was enough to provide a balanced, healthy diet. I wasn’t feeding him the cheapest dog food I could find, after all.
Dogs are dependent on us to feed them wholesome foods, just like babies, I reasoned. Of course, dog food manufacturers only made healthy dog food, right?
The truth is, I was placing my dog’s life in the hands of people whom I assumed had my dog’s best interest at heart.
I assumed dog food companies were created by people who loved dogs as much as I did. That only made sense, right?
Wrong. Most commercial dog food companies are owned by the world’s largest food companies, and they were looking for a way to make use of what had previously been considered waste products- food not fit for human consumption. Their solution? Dog food.
Dog food uses up the waste products from the biggest food producing companies- it’s not intended to enhance your dog’s health.
Think about that for a second. Food not fit for human consumption….
I mean, we humans eat some pretty gross things: spam, hot dogs, cheese puffs, spray cheese… Not much goes to waste in today’s market. …So what’s going into your dog’s food?
…it still makes me shudder when I think about it.
I was trusting my dog’s well being to a large corporation that wasn’t founded to make the lives of dogs better. (Hint: They were founded to make MONEY, not to make dogs healthy.)
I trusted the pictures of fresh ingredients on the front of the bag. I overlooked the hard-to-pronounce ingredients list and selected a bag that made me feel good about what I was feeding my dog. I was lulled into believing I was doing the best for my dog. You see, deep down I really wanted to be a good dog mom.
And in truth, what I was putting in my dog’s bowl ultimately gave him cancer that killed him.
I was believing the lies instead of doing the hard work of researching what was best for my dog… and my ignorance hurt my dog.
I had to take a good hard look at what I believed about the pet industry, and here’s what I found:
What you feed your dog matters more than any other single thing you do to enhance or protect your dog’s health.
…. all else pales in comparison to the quality of food in your dog’s bowl every day.
Without quality nutrients, your dog cannot naturally respond to environmental threats like viruses, bacteria, injuries… and even cancer.
Have you heard about the numerous dog food recalls? Rawhide dangers? Even lawsuits against the big name dog foods brands for being responsible for the deaths of thousands of pets… maybe you haven't since most are buried by the press after a successfully settled lawsuit out of view of the public?
These dog foods are still readily available in any grocery store or pet supply chain, despite the known dangers because dogs are just a means to an end for them- a way to increase profits.
How do you know what to give your dog with so many bad choices available today?!
Quality nutrients for dogs come in the form of:
- dog food
- dog treats
- dog chews
Each of these common staples must meet the highest standards set forth by fellow dog parents- standards like those at TruDog. Our highest priority is to enhance the lives of dogs and those who love them- folks just like you.
I want your dog to live a longer, happier, healthier life.
If you do, too, please don’t make the same mistakes I did. Know what you’re feeding your dog at all times-
with every treat,
with every chewy,
with every meal.
Remember when I said I had to do things the hard way? The good news is that you don’t have to. My pain and loss motivated me to do the hard work for you when I formulated the wholesome, healthy TruDog products available today.
You won’t believe the difference quality nutrition will make in your own dog. You’ll see:
- more energy
- fewer illnesses
- less shedding
- no more foul doggie smell
- fewer digestive problems
- fewer allergic symptoms
- less tear staining
- fresher breath
- healthier teeth
- improved immune system response
- easier to maintain a healthy weight
- no more fighting over mealtimes
I know, because I only feed my dogs TruDog now that I know what mistakes to avoid. I see the results in my own dogs and have had thousands of pet parents send me praise reports. Pet parents like Amy:
“My pups and I love your products! Poppy (white) is a rescue from down south and was spayed at 2 months possibly the cause of many urinary and oxalate problems. It was so hard to find a commercial dog food she could eat, so I started making my own wet version. I wanted a ‘kibble’ that was healthy to supplement her diet and found you! She loves her food and after two years of work, she is off all medications for her urinary problems. My other rescue, Teddy (brown and white), and my 12-year-old Lily (black) also love your food. Thanks so much for all you do to help our fur babies! Amy, Poppy, Teddy, and Lily.”
